As the cold winter winds continue, we want to remind you to take the time to check your vehicle emergency safety kit. If you don’t have one… now is DEFINITELY the time to create one. Being prepared can save your life.
While there are many premade kits, it is not difficult to put your own together. It should have essentials like a flashlight, first-aid kit, wool or foil blankets, ice scraper, jumper cables, and a shovel. You also may consider adding traction aids, flares, extra warm clothing, and non-perishable food items. Consider bringing a water bottle whenever you travel- but don’t leave it in the car to become a block of ice! We know… it isn’t too much help then!
You also may consider having your trusted mechanic’s number on hand… in the event of a break down your mechanic can give you safety advice and may be able to help you troubleshoot and get you back on the road without needing a tow.
